The. Dome. Cake.
in spring of 2020 (yes - just a week before a global pandemic shut down California), i discovered the mickey dome cake.
i wanted to do something special for my family. we already had a reservation at wine country trattoria but i wanted to level-up happiest-place-on-earth style. i saw that i could order a dome cake ahead of time and have it delivered to the restaurant. why not? give it a shot. might be good. it was beyond good! and now there’s no going back.
i have ordered this cake on subsequent trips to wdw and it couldn’t be more magical! if it somehow manages to survive longer than one night, it is a welcome treat we share as a family throughout our stay.
The cake itself is made of Chocolate Chiffon, Dark Chocolate Mousse (or White Chocolate Mousse) complete with dark, hard chocolate ears, eyes and tail! it’s both rich and light in flavors. the large cake feeds 4 to 8 guests.
Amorette’s Patisserie in Disney Springs also has the most adorable mini (read minnie) dome cakes! they offer additional flavors, color combinations and holiday celebration in mini dome cake form.
these cakes are becoming popular and may be available in your hotel quick service restaurant - keep your eyes open or just ask! if you’d like to have a dome cake added to your sit-down meal, make sure to order well ahead of time and double check your restaurant is a participating restaurant in the cake delivery service.
there are so many ways to indulge at wdw and disneyland and this one is definitely worth the price and calories!
